Prof. Dr. Murat ALKAN
Prof. Dr Murat Alkan was born in Mersin. He graduated from İçel Anatolian High School '90. In 1993, he did general surgery internship in Poland- Gdansk Academia Hospital. In 1996, he graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. Between 1996 and 1998, he worked as a general practitioner in private institutions in Mersin. In 1998, he started his specialisation in Pediatric Surgery at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and received his speciality certificate in Pediatric Surgery in 2004. His paediatric surgery speciality thesis was on endoscopic treatment of vesicoureteral reflux which is frequently encountered in paediatric urology.
Between 2004-2007, he worked as a paediatric surgery specialist at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine Adana Practice and Research Hospital. In 2008, he continued to work at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Paediatric Surgery. In 2008-2009, he worked as an observer in Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Paediatric Urology and received laparoscopy training-certificate and diploma in France-Strasburg. In 2010, he received the European Academy of Paediatric Urology Fellowship (speciality, FEAPU) certificate.
He received his associate professorship title and paediatric urology subspecialty certificate at Çukurova University in 2011. In 2017, he received the title of professor. Until 2020, he worked as a faculty member at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Paediatric Surgery. He is a member of Turkish Society of Child Surgery (TCCD), Paediatric Urology Association (PEDURO), European Society of Paediatric Urology (ESPU). He is a member of the board of directors of the Paediatric Urology Association and is the chairman of the education board of the association. Dr Alkan is married and has two daughters.
